How to Transfer Old Game Saves to a New Nintendo Switch?

Do you want to migrate your old saves or downloads to a new Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite? Well, we are here to help you through this post.

Nintendo has made several changes in the past few years. You can access all the Nintendo games only on your primary console, even without having internet connectivity, but what to do if you want your new device to work as a primary console, be it Switch Lite or V2? Read on.

Requirements for Transferring your Old Save and Download Data

Follow these points if you want to transfer all the saved data to your new Nintendo console:

· First of all, you must need an online account related to Nintendo Switch if you don’t have it already. It’s one of the compatible ways to transfer your data across synced devices.

· It’s also recommended and necessary to backup up all your saved data to your iCloud account. Otherwise, you may face several issues while migrating your data from one device to another.

· Save your data, and essential details on cloud services as all your saved data is kept automatically on your console, not in the particular cartridge.

· The next thing is to deregister or turn off your original Switch as the primary console for the Switch account.

· Check properly that your game data supports cloud services or not. If not, then you need to transfer all your saved data manually.

Steps to Make Sure That the Save Data is Completely Backed-Up

Here are the steps for backing up all your saved data:

· First of all, it is recommended to hit the Home Menu tab and then scroll to the game.

· Now, press the plus-shaped icon there.

· Scroll down the page and reach the Save Data Cloud section.

· In case the data is backed up properly, then you will be able to see the marked box located just after the option “Backed Up.” If the same doesn’t display on your screen, then tap on your account.

· Next, hit the tab “Back Up Save Data.”

Steps to Transfer Game Data Manually

If you want to transfer your game data manually, then follow these instructions:

Get Started Using Your Old Device

· Turn on your old Nintendo Switch and then tap the Home menu.

· After that, scroll down the page to Data Management.

· Hit the option “Transfer your Save Data.”

· Press the Receive Save Data option there.

· A new screen will appear on your device, and then you will see that the data migration procedure starts successfully.

· Hit the OK tab on both the devices.

Steps to Deregister Your Current Switch from Primary Gaming Console

If you want to deregister your original Nintendo Switch as your primary console, then follow these steps:

· Now, hit the tab related to deregistering your primary Nintendo console.

· Now, type the necessary information asked by Nintendo.

· Press the OK button to confirm.

· Hit the tab Deregister.

· Tap on Deregister once more.

· Now, you have successfully deregistered your device. Next time, whenever you connect to Nintendo eShop using your Switch’s console, the console you use to sync or connect will be automatically set up as your primary device.

Steps to Register Your New Switch as Primary Gaming Console

Below are the offered instructions for those who want to register a new Switch as a primary game console:

· Firstly, open the System Settings on your device.
